In the mountains of Mexico, the ancient craft of making net bags has survived to the present day. The nets are made by hand over a period of several weeks, in which natural sisal leaves are transformed into the extremely stretchy Cho’jac bag. Traditionally, the net bag is worn with a single leather strap across the forehead in order to transport heavy loads.

The rucksack is the modern form of the Cho’jac: pure handcraft, made from natural materials, each piece is stylish, practical, and one-of-a-kind.

This Cho’jac rucksack was lovingly made, exclusively by hand, in traditional workshops in and around Berlin.

The net is made from 100% tear-resistant Sisal Agave fibre. The extra thick leather straps come from German cattle and were tanned using natural methods. Through increasing wear, the leather gains a unique patina. The high-quality lining is hand-woven in Mexico by a local family and made of pure cotton. It is sewn in a local workshop in Berlin by people with disabilities. This summer edition we only offer in a small quantity.

- Hardcore handcraft in its purest form.

With the flick of a wrist, the rucksack can be turned into a shoulder bag. The net is ca. 40cm long with a width of 30cm, and stretches further depending on its contents. Weighing in total less than 900 grams, the Cho’jac is definitely a light-weight.

Note: All components are highly durable and either repairable or replaceable. The metal rivets can be unscrewed and reused.
